Call for Inuit Artists
Shaping a meaningful visual language
CONTEXT
Nunavingmi Ilagiit Papatauvigna is currently undergoing a major cultural realignment of all family services in Nunavik through a new service model grounded on Inuit ways of doing. This transformation is reshaping how services are structured, delivered, and communicated in the region.
We are inviting Inuit visual artists to collaborate with us on the creation of a cohesive series of custom portraits, illustrations, and icons that will shape the visual identity of our communications for years to come.
This paid contract, taking place in early 2026, will focus on artwork that reflects and celebrates Inuit family and children, and the importance of cultural continuity through Inuit knowledge and ways. The selected artist(s) will help bring visual rhythm, depth, and emotional meaning to our communication platforms, including our website, pamphlets, banners, and other tools.
This artwork will broaden storytelling and improve the user experience, while remaining grounded in our existing brand essence.
What we need
Character and portrait illustrations
Character and portrait illustrations will help bring NIP’s work to life through human-centered, emotion-driven storytelling. These illustrations may represent individuals, caregivers, or community figures in ways that feel respectful, symbolic, and culturally grounded, without being literal or documentary.
Exemple of use
What we need
Conceptual icons/visuals
They will represent key services, values, and ideas, visually articulating the core pillars of NIP’s work in a clear and culturally grounded way.
The icons should be simple, readable, and adaptable to a variety of backgrounds, pastel, saturated, or white. One or two colors maximum.
What we need
DECORATIVE ILLUSTRATIONS
We are also seeking more complete illustrative scenes and landscapes that can serve as decorative and atmospheric elements across the website and other communication materials.
The style can be more narrative and expressive, drawing inspiration from children’s book illustrations, with a strong sense of place, warmth, and imagination.
WHAT INSPIRES US ?
